Entrance Requirements

Age: Applicant must be 16 years of age or older.

Education: A high school diploma or GED is required.

Health: An applicant must be able to attend school regularly and meet the physical demands of the program.

Assessment Results: Applicants must make the minimum required scores in reading, writing, and math on the Admissions Placement Test (ASSET) or one of the approved entrance tests (example, SAT, ACT) to be admitted as regular students. Generally, students are not admitted to degree programs on a provisional basis. In exceptional circumstances provisional acceptance may be granted to degree students. An applicant who has completed with a “C” grade or better, transferable English and math courses from an accredited institution, may be exempt from taking the entrance examination.

Admissions Procedures

  1. Submit a completed application for admission;
  2. Pay a $15 non-refundable application fee;
  3. Submit an official copy of a high school transcript or GED test scores and any postsecondary transcripts;
  4. Complete the ASSET placement exam offered by MTC or submit satisfactory SAT, ACT, Compass, or CPE scores if taken within the past five years;
    NOTE: Applicants without a high school diploma or the equivalent who are applying for Title IV (PELL) funds, must have the entrance exam specially administered, must test on the designated ATB test schedule and make acceptable scores to receive Title IV funds.
  5. Complete and submit all student financial service information.
    The Admissions Office will notify applicants by letter of acceptance status.
