The purpose of the Central Sterile Technician certificate is to provide students with entry-level training in nationally based competencies that will prepare graduates to function in the sterile supply processing and distribution area of healthcare facilities. Students will develop skills necessary to properly decontaminate, process, prepare, store, and issue both sterile and non-sterile medical and surgical supplies and equipment in the healthcare setting. Students will be prepared to operate and monitor sterilizers in healthcare facilities.
