Entrance Requirements

Age: Refer to individual program descriptions for age entrance requirements.

Education: Refer to individual program descriptions for prior education requirements. Some programs require that prerequisites be taken before being considered for an interview. (See program descriptions for prerequisites).

Health: Applicants must be able to attend school regularly and meet the physical demands of their course.

Assessment Results: Applicants for all health programs, must make the minimum required scores in reading, writing, and math on the Admission Placement Test (ASSET) or one of the approved entrance tests (example, SAT, ACT) to be admitted as regular students. An applicant who has completed, with a “C” grade or better, transferable English and math courses from an accredited institution may be exempt from taking the entrance examination.

Note: Some Personal Services programs have additional requirements, such as volunteer or observation time, certification, or state licensure prerequisites. Please refer to the specific program description for more detailed information.

ADMISSIONS PROCEDURE

  1. Submit a completed application for admission;
  2. Pay a $15 non-refundable application fee;
  3. Submit an official copy of a high school transcript or GED test scores and any postsecondary transcripts;
  4. Complete the ASSET placement exam offered by MTC or submit satisfactory SAT, ACT, Compass, or CPE scores if taken within the past five years;
    NOTE: Applicants without a high school diploma or the equivalent who are applying for Title IV (PELL) funds, must have the entrance exam specially administered, must test on the designated ATB test schedule and make acceptable scores to receive Title IV funds.
  5. Complete and submit all student financial service information.
    The Admissions Office will notify applicants by letter of acceptance status.
