How to Apply

  1. Apply for a pin. Apply for a pin at www.pin.ed.gov. You’ll need a pin to electronically sign your FAFSA. If you’re a dependent student, your parents should also apply for a pin so they too can electronically sign your FAFSA.
  2. Apply for aid. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on-line at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Section 1 on the home page of www.fafsa.ed.gov has a list of all the documents you will need to fill out your FAFSA. You must provide information from those documents and list Moultrie Technical College (School Code 005255) on the FAFSA. Complete a new FAFSA prior to Summer Quarter each academic year you wish to receive aid. After completing the FAFSA, complete the Moultrie Technical College Institutional Aid Application and submit it to the Financial Aid Office. Students who do not wish to apply on-line may receive paper forms by contacting the financial aid office; however, applying on-line is much faster. It is recommended that all students apply for aid at least one month prior to registration. Students who do not wish to be considered for Pell, FSEOG, or Federal Work Study may apply for HOPE program only by completing a HOPE application at GACollege411.

All students should complete the Institutional Student Aid Application.

  3. Review your Student Aid Report. A few weeks after completing the FAFSA, you will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR). The SAR summarizes the information you provided on the FAFSA. If all the information is correct keep the SAR for your records. If information on the SAR is incorrect, make corrections on-line at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
  4. Moultrie Technical College Correspondence. Within ten days after you receive a complete, correct SAR, Moultrie Technical College will either send you an award notification or a request for additional documentation. Submit any requested documents to the financial aid office within ten business days to avoid financial aid delays.
  5. Your award notification. Once your financial aid file is complete, you will receive an award letter by mail which outlines the maximum amounts and types of aid you may receive. Be sure to read the award letter completely as it provides important information. Contact the financial aid office if you do not receive an award letter within ten days of completing the application process.
  6. Get your refund. If your aid awarded exceeds the amount you owe the college, a refund check will be mailed to the address on file in our database. Please make sure that you keep your address up to date by notifying the admissions office of any changes. Checks will be mailed approximately four weeks from the first day of the quarter. MTC offers a direct deposit option for refunds.
