GAcollege411

GAcollege411.org is a one-stop shop where high school students and all Georgians can find the information they need to prepare for higher education. This free, online resource is designed specifically to help Georgia students prepare to attend college in Georgia. GAcollege411 helps students explore careers, prepare for the SAT and ACT, compare Georgia colleges, apply for college admission, and research and apply for federal and state financial aid.

“In today’s rapidly changing economy, it’s more important than ever for Georgians to have ready access to up-to-date information regarding career opportunities and the training available to prepare for those careers,” said Mike Vollmer, Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Technical and Adult Education (DTAE), the state agency that oversees Georgia’s system of public technical colleges. “GAcollege411 gives an important edge to all Georgia students, especially those who want to be a part of the work force of tomorrow.”

GAcollege411 was officially launched by Governor Sonny Perdue in February 2005. In addition to the many features already available, further enhancements are scheduled for late 2005, including the ability to apply to college online and to transmit high school transcripts electronically.

To efficiently organize all of the information on GAcollege411 and manage online activities, site users can create personal My411 accounts. The accounts, which are free and secure, record the user’s career and college research, high school grades, standardized test scores, honors, awards, extracurricular activities, and applications made to colleges and financial aid providers. It’s a great way for students and other users to monitor progress and stay on track as they prepare for postsecondary education.

GAcollege411.org is a free service of the State of Georgia, provided by the Georgia Student Finance Commission, DTAE, and many other Georgia partners, in an effort to help Georgia residents realize their higher education dreams.
