Workforce Investment Act
WIA is a federally funded job training program designed to provide assistance to those needing occupational skills in order to obtain employment or advance with their current employer. WIA is a competitive scholarship given to a limited number of qualified applicants each quarter/semester, and is designed to help adults, dislocated workers, displaced homemakers, and income eligible youth who are unable to pay the cost of attending training. Applicants must intend on returning to the workforce once they have completed their training program.
WIA may be used in conjunction with HOPE and Pell Grants. WIA assists with expenses for tuition, fees, books, and other required school expenses not covered by other types of financial aid.
WIA offers limited financial assistance to help with the costs of childcare and transportation.
