Meet your Emergency Preparedness/Safety Committee! Send us an email with your suggestions and/or concerns regarding safety.
Moultrie Technical College values the health and well being of every person on its campuses. The following information describes workers’ compensation, family medical leave, and training on airborne/bloodborne pathogens, anthrax, hazardous materials, and employee right-to-know.
Workers’ Compensation
Workers’ compensation provides benefits to employees who sustain a workplace injury by accident or illness (subject to limitations of O.C.G.A 34-9-1(4)) which arises out of and in the course of employment. If you sustain an injury or illness, contact your supervisor immediately. Human Resources also must be notified by calling either:
Michael Heard 229-217-4207 or April Bentley 229-217-4255
If the injury is a medical emergency, proceed to the nearest emergency room. If no treatment is needed, contact Human Resources. If non-emergency medical treatment is needed, contact Human Resources.
Moultrie Technical College utilizes Amerisys, Inc. as its workers’ compensation/managed care organization. Human Resources will assist the employee in filing a claim and after a claim has been filed, employees can call a case manager by dialing 800-900-1582 for assistance in selecting a physician, scheduling an appointment, and obtaining follow-up care.
Most importantly, employees are not free to seek medical treatment from their personal physician. They must access the network through Amerisys. Seeking treatment without the assistance of the case manager results in unauthorized care, and the employee may be held accountable for all medical expenses.
Family and Medical Leave
Please click here to view Moultrie Technical College’s policy on FMLA.
Generally, to be eligible for up to 12 weeks of FMLA an employee must have been employed for at least 12 months and worked 1250 hours in the preceding 12 months, and leave must be for any of the following:
- The birth and first year care of the child of the employee;
- The placement of a child with the employee for adoption or foster care in the employee's home;
- A serious health condition of the employee’s child, spouse, parent or spouse’s parent, necessitating the employee’s presence; or
- A serious health condition of the employee which renders the employee unable to perform the duties of their job.
Any time an employee is absent for more than 3 days due to any of the reasons above, Human Resources must be notified.
