Moultrie Tech Trains for OSHA Standards

Joan Thompson, Director of Instructional Services

MOULTRIE , GA. Would your business or industry be ready if OSHA inspectors knocked on your door? Moreover, are your employees aware of what OSHA means to them?

OSHA, which stands for Occupational Safety and Health Administration, is an arm of the U.S. Department of Labor. According to OSHA’s website, part of its mission is to assure the safety and health of America's workers by setting and enforcing standards and encouraging continual improvement in workplace safety and health.

OSHA has approximately 2100 inspectors, plus complaint discrimination investigators, engineers, physicians, educators, standards writers and support personnel spread over more than 200 offices throughout the country. The state of Georgia and its southwest region is no exception.

Understanding that nearly every working man and woman in Colquitt, Tift, Turner and Worth counties comes under OSHA's jurisdiction, Moultrie Technical College has developed programs that provide awareness and knowledge of OSHA standards.

“We recognize the fact that in our busy lives, it’s difficult to keep up with all of the changing safety and health compliance regulations. We understand the importance of safety to an organization, therefore we provide the necessary programs that apply to your specific OSHA needs,” says Carol Mathews, Moultrie Tech’s vice president of economic development

According to Mathews, whether it’s Fork Lift Certification, Lockout/Tag-out, Confined Space Entry, Personal Protective Equipment, Hazardous Communications, Fire Safety, Blood Borne Pathogens, either in construction or general industry, Moultrie Tech offers educational classes with broad-spectrum training or can customize training for individual business needs.

Training is offered at the request of area businesses either on one of Moultrie Tech’s campuses in Moultrie, Tifton, Ashburn or Sumner or at the individual business location.

Moultrie Tech’s next OSHA-compliant class offered is for Fork Lift Certification on December 30 th at 8:00 a.m. on the Veterans Parkway campus in Moultrie. The fee is $50 per person. Interested businesses or individuals should call (229) 217-4186 to register.
