![]() |
MOULTRIE , GA. In an effort to encourage its students, faculty and staff to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming General Election in November, Moultrie Technical College will offer a special presentation on Voter Education and Awareness. Presented by the Georgia Secretary of State’s office on Tuesday, August 31, training will occur in two half-hour intervals beginning at 10:30 a.m. and concluding at 11:30 a.m. in the Conference Center on the college’s Veterans Parkway campus in Moultrie.
Stemming from the state’s Georgia Counts initiative, the training will introduce both registered and unregistered voters to the new touch screen voting machines that are now being used statewide.
As part of this education effort, six Voter Education coordinators are holding public demonstrations throughout the state giving Georgians the opportunity to learn about the voting machines and practice casting mock ballots. Funding for the voter education project was approved by the Georgia General Assembly in the 2002 Budget.
Coordinator Carla Carter will conduct the training for the Moultrie Technical College constituency. Carter is responsible for Region 5, which includes Colquitt, Dougherty, Tift, and Thomas counties. She is scheduling demonstrations at a variety of locations across the region including county commission meetings, civic club events, churches, grocery stores, shopping malls and sporting events.
