Using Skills Gained at MTC

Lupe “Speedy” Alonzo, a graduate of Moultrie Technical College’s Welding program, put the skills gleaned from his training with MTC instructor Bill Giles to use in building a racecar fit for the South Georgia Motorsports Park. He took first prize in the Park’s All-Star Stock Car Racing Series in the Pure Stock division on March 18, 2006 and credits his training at MTC with helping him fashion a car primed to win. He was also the 2005 Pure Stock points runner-up and won the Team Player Award. Alonzo also uses his mig and tig welding skills on a daily basis as the plant manager of Mobley Gin Company in
