New Moultrie Tech Partnership Provides Vital Courses for Community
MTC Partnership Provides New Courses for Community
MOULTRIE, GA. Moultrie Technical College recently embarked on a partnership with Education to Go, an online learning service provider owned by Thompson Learning. The partnership enables Moultrie Tech’s Continuing Education Department to offer over 300 new online courses designed for professional development, personal enrichment, and skill enhancement.
“Our Ed2Go partnership enables us to expand our offerings in a big way,” commented Tonya Cooper, MTC director of continuing education. “The courses are extremely user-friendly, and the instructors who teach the courses are masters in their field. Because the course titles span a large spectrum, there is truly something for everyone. The courses provide focused training designed to produce quick results.”
Topics range from computer applications, such as Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Office Suite programs; to Project Management and Leadership courses like Fundamentals of Supervision and Management and Project Management Applications; to professional development programs like paralegal certificates and home inspection. Additional topics include grant writing, test preparation courses, computer troubleshooting, childcare, and writing and publishing, and even genealogy basics.
Courses begin the 3 rd week of each month. Most classes last six weeks, with two lessons provided each week. For a complete listing of available courses and registration information, visit www.ed2go.com/moultrie or www.moultrietech.edu, click Economic Development. Students must have Internet access to participate in online courses.
In addition to the online learning options, MTC’s Continuing Education has also added classroom courses in Supervisory Management. The 15-credit hour certificate program includes three classes; Interpersonal Employee Relations, Leadership and Decision-Making, and Training and Performance Evaluation.
According to Judi Lovvorn, MTC industry training coordinator, this program is ideal for individuals who have recently found themselves in management positions, who would like to improve their own management shortfalls, or who are looking at gaining more credentials.
Participants will learn what motivates people, how to adjust to different personality types, strategies for resolving interpersonal conflict, how to make sound decisions, how to delegate authority and responsibility, how to effectively coach individuals, and tactics for employee selection and interviewing. The Supervisory Management program is Hope eligible and the next class begins in April and is offered at the Tifton and Moultrie campuses.
In addition, Lovvorn says MTC’s new Small Business Management program is a great starting point for those who wish to begin their own business or who have recently launched their own business. The course focuses on the entrepreneurial business operation and discusses marketing a business, financial stability, business plan creation, governmental regulations, business ownership and strategies for avoiding common pitfalls. This course also begins in April and is offered at the Tifton and Moultrie campuses.
