Moultrie Tech Opens Environmental Horticulture Program at Tiftarea Academy


Students, administrators, faculty, and board members from both Moultrie Technical College and Tiftarea Academy celebrated the budding of an educational partnership at an Open House event held September 30.  The 2005-2006 school year marks the first time that Moultrie Technical College has offered horticulture-related classes, and Tiftarea Academy is the incubator site of the college’s program. High school juniors and seniors can earn dual credit towards high school and college and will receive a Lawn Maintenance Specialist Certificate at the conclusion of the school year. The certificate includes such classes as Pest Management, Horticulture Construction, Landscape Installation and an elective of the student’s choice.  All the courses will be taught by MTC instructor Cherie White on-site at the academy.
