Moultrie Tech to Host Sister of Nicole Brown Simpson on Relationship Violence
MOULTRIE, GA. Moultrie Technical College and the Moultrie Junior Woman’s Club will host Tanya Brown, sister of Nicole Brown Simpson, for two presentations to college students and community members on the warning signs and escalation of a potentially violent relationship.
Sponsored by Standard Discount Corporation, Moultrie Board of Realtors and Moultrie Technical College’s Student Leadership Council, the events will be held Thursday, April 20 th, at the college’s Veterans Parkway campus conference center at 11:00 a.m. for students and 7:00 p.m. for the community.
Admission to the evening event is $10.00 with all proceeds going to the Serenity House, a home for battered women and their children in Colquitt County.
According to Tanya Brown, “June 12, 1994 was the date that Nicole Brown Simpson was murdered by a man who claimed to love her. It was discovered that Nicole was living a secret, treacherous life. She had documented 17 years of emotional and physical abuse. This evidence was secured in a safety deposit box in Brentwood, California.”
Currently, Brown, who speaks from life experiences and extensive training in an effort to raise relationship violence awareness,is focusing her efforts on speaking out to college students on this growing epidemic and says college students, staff and faculty need to be aware of the progression of violent relationships.

She adds, “College ought to be a good life experience, establishing new friends and even a new identity. This can make a person very vulnerable to abuse, thus making it vital to establish boundaries and healthy, non-violent relationships, both personal and professional. Relationship violence, in all its forms, sees no color, creed, race or socio-economic boundaries. Any one of you could potentially fall victim to this dirty little secret.”
