Moultrie Tech DEX Students Earn Annual College Awards

Moultrie Technical College students Phillip Viohl, Renee’ Truett and Josh Oliver, pictured left to right, were recognized by advisor and MTC Marketing Management instructor John Overman, far left, with the Delta Epsilon Chi Participation, Leadership and Student of the Year awards, respectively, at the annual college Student Awards Banquet on June 8 th.

MOULTRIE , GA – Josh Oliver of Leesburg received the prestigious Delta Epsilon Chi (DEX) Student of the Year Award at the annual Moultrie Technical College Student Awards Banquet held June 8, 2006, in the MTC Conference Center. The award honors the DEX member who has made active contributions to the various club projects and activities throughout the year as a leader and maintained a high level of academic excellence as represented in the required course work.

Oliver participated in the competitive event program during the International DEX Career Development Conference in Dallas, Texas and has served as a chapter Vice President. An honor student, he has been an active supporter of all of the chapter’s activities.

Renee’ Truett of Moultrie received the DEX Leadership Award for her contributions as a chapter officer and for demonstrating leadership excellence in her contributions to the various club projects throughout the year. She participated in both the Georgia Leadership Development Conference and the Georgia Delta Epsilon Chi Career Development Conference in Atlanta where she was the first place winner in the Travel & Tourism Marketing Management Business Simulation. She also participated in the International Delta Epsilon Chi Career Development Conference in Dallas, Texas.

Phillip Viohl, also of Moultrie, received the Participation Award for his contributions to the Moultrie Tech DEX chapter and for his performance in the various chapter projects.

According to DEX chapter advisor and MTC Marketing Management instructor John Overman, “Phillip has been a positive supporter of all the chapter activities and earned honors in his academic performance by being named to the President’s list every quarter since he has been at Moultrie Technical College. Phillip participated in both the Georgia Leadership Development Conference and the Georgia Delta Epsilon Chi Career Development Conference in Atlanta where he was the first place winner in the Restaurant & Food Services Marketing Management Business Simulation and was named Georgia Delta Epsilon Chi Student of the Year. He also participated in the International Delta Epsilon Chi Career Development Conference in Dallas, Texas and earned the Award of Excellence in his competitive event. While in Dallas Phillip was also recognized with the Chapter Leadership Award, the State Leadership Award and the National Honor Award.”

Dovie Cox, Renee’ Truett, Johnny Miller, Denver Smith, Josh Oliver and Paul Lowry each received a Leadership Appreciation Certificate during the ceremony for having served as chapter officers during the academic year.
