Moultrie Tech DEX Kicks Off Serenity House Drive

MOULTRIE, GA. Delta Epsilon Chi, the Marketing Management club at Moultrie Technical College, recently kicked-off their annual campus wide drive for the Serenity House shelter for battered women and their children as their Summer Quarter community service project.

The members hosted a luncheon for Margie Copeland, Serenity House Case Manager, and Ann Moxley, a case worker at the Serenity House. Copeland and Moxley talked to the club members about family violence here in Colquitt County and what the Serenity House is doing to alleviate the problem.

Moxley said, “Every nine seconds a woman is physically abused in the United States.”

DEX chapter president Josh Oliver said, “We want to encourage campus wide participation in the drive, and we are extremely proud of the positive response we received last year from the students and faculty who participated in the Serenity House drive.”

Items to be collected for the shelter include over the counter medications, health, beauty and hygiene items, infant and children needs, office supplies, paper products, laundry supplies, and cleaning supplies that are needed on a regular basis.

DEX is the college division of the Distributive Education Clubs of America, DECA, and is the only student organization operating in the public post secondary school system dedicated exclusively to developing future leaders for Marketing and Management.
