MOULTRIE , GEORGIA – Moultrie Technical College student Phillip Viohl of Moultrie was recently named the recipient of the prestigious International Delta Epsilon Chi (DEX) Honor Award. This award recognizes DEX members for their high academic excellence, leadership and involvement.
To earn this recognition Viohl had to be nominated by his DEX chapter advisor. Members also must be a full time student, have an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher and must have participated in a number of local, state or national DEX activities, leadership activities, and community and school service activities.
Moultrie Tech’s chapter advisor John Overman stated that he was very proud to have nominated Viohl. “Phillip is a natural leader. He served the chapter as a past chapter president, represented us successfully at two state career development conferences, two leadership conferences and last year’s International Career Development Conference where he was a national finalist.”
Viohl will once again be competing at this year’s International Career Development Conference in Dallas, Texas, April 22-25, which will bring together nearly 2,000 career-oriented Marketing Management college students from throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, Guam and Canada to demonstrate competencies acquired during the school year in various occupational categories.
To attend the national conference members must have achieved recognition by winning awards at the Georgia Delta Epsilon Chi Career Development Conference. Those who win at international level are not only acclaimed by instructors, advisors, employers, and their peers, but receive substantial reward for having reached the top of the DEX competitive event ladder.
Delta Epsilon Chi is the only international student organization operating through the nation’s colleges and universities to attract young people to careers in marketing, merchandising and management. Its purposes are to develop respect for education that will contribute to occupational competence and to promote understanding and appreciation for the responsibilities of citizenship in a free, competitive enterprise system.
