Moultrie Tech Tifton GED Students Rewarded at Flint Riverquarium
 |
Eight GED students from Moultrie Technical College’s Tifton Campus Adult Literacy program recently attended a field trip to the Flint Riverquarium. Students were members of at least one of three Science classes taught by instructor Lisa Flournoy. Students were selected from about fifty candidates based on outstanding attendance and prior level completions. Attendees pictured, left to right, are Olena McLean, Mark Williamson, Maria Cuellar, Tiffanie McKinnon, Betty Moore, Bonnette Woods, Tristan Cothren and James Parks. These students had been studying during Summer Quarter about the ecosystems and wildlife indigenous to South Georgia. During their trip, students were able to be eye-to-eye with American alligators, spotted gars, striped bass and a number of saltwater fishes. Their field trip also included encounters with stingrays at the touch tank and with one of South Georgia’s most venomous snakes, the diamondback rattlesnake.
