Moultrie Tech Crowns Ms. MTC 2006

MOULTRIE , GA. Ray Bloser, a 35-year-old Cosmetology student from Adel, was crowned Ms. MTC 2006 in Moultrie Technical College’s second annual pageant Thursday night. The event was held in the conference center of the college’s Veterans Parkway campus in Moultrie.
Fifteen contestants, all current Moultrie Tech students representing various academic programs, competed in evening wear, professional wear and interview skills categories.
Bloser will serve for a full year representing the college in the community across MTC’s service area of Colquitt, Tift, Turner and Worth counties and through student recruiting events. Her first public appearance will be in the Downtown Moultrie Christmas Parade on December 3 rd.
Upon her crowning Bloser said, “I’m extremely shocked, surprised and overwhelmed. I would like to thank God for all that he has done in my life. ”
Of her new role as an ambassador for Moultrie Tech and the technical education system, Bloser, mother to Austin, 11, and Jade, 7, commented, “I want people to know that you are never too old to go to college.”
She plans to work in a salon after her graduation from Moultrie Tech and to open her own business in the future.
Pageant finalists included first runner-up Amanda Johnson, 20, of Tifton; second runner-up Carolyn Dykes, 20, of Adel; and third runner-up Tamika Hall, 23, of Ashburn. Johnson also won the Evening Wear portion of the competition while Dykes was awarded Miss Congeniality. Laine Sheridan, 26, of Moultrie won the Professional Wear category, and Amy Broderick, 33, also of Moultrie, placed first in the Interview competition.
Other participating contestants were Kelli Atkinson and Nichole Barham of Moultrie; Ashli Garrick, Kayla Manning, Beverly McClain, Kimberly Prince, Jamie Rogers and Renata Williams of Tifton; and Kolonda Washington of Valdosta.
Bryant Beadles of Balfour Lumber Company, Lori Folsom of Tift Regional Medical Center and Frank Lang, City of Moultrie chief of police, served as judges.
Pageant entertainment was provided by vocalist Marcie Smith and guitarist Cody Turpen. Radio personality Dotty Davis of K-Country served as emcee.
Pageant runners-up and the winner received gifts donated by many regional sponsors to recognize their accomplishments.
