Moultrie Technical College and ABAC on the Square recently sponsored a “Stay in School” essay contest for 8th grade students. Moultrie Tech worked in conjunction with the Colquitt County School System to create a comprehensive academic and career guidance program for middle and high school students carrying out the theme: “Stay the Course - Graduate - Stay in School!”

Teresa Venet, SiS grant coordinator, announced the winners of the essay contest on May 23rd.  Winning first place was Caitlyn Perryman, second place was Cydnie Clifton and the third place was Lori Jackson, all from Willie J. Williams Middle School. Winners were presented with savings bonds donated by community businesses Ameris, South Georgia Bank and Standard Discount Corporation.

Recently all Colquitt County 8th graders have had the opportunity to tour Moultrie Technical College and ABAC on the Square.  Many students also shadowed MTC students in class as they learned first hand about their particular area of interest.
