TIFTON , GA. Moultrie Technical College (MTC) proudly announces a ribbon cutting and naming ceremony for the Tift Regional Medical Center Allied Health Wing on the MTC Tifton Campus at 52 Tech Drive in Tifton. The celebratory event will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2007, at 2:30 p.m. with assistance from the Tifton-Tift County Chamber of Commerce.

“Because of the exceptional contributors and supporters that Tift Regional (TRMC) and its Foundation have been for Moultrie Tech’s students, graduates, faculty and staff, we want to honor them by designating our health programs building on the Tifton campus as the Tift Regional Medical Center Allied Health Wing,” says MTC president Tina Anderson.

TRMC supported Moultrie Technical College’s efforts to begin a Surgical Technology program on its Tifton campus several years ago with a generous donation to provide the support necessary to hire an instructor for the program. The medical center also donated instructional equipment such as an operating room surgical table, a cell saver, an anesthesia machine, an endoscope video tower and a Wilson frame to benefit the program.

In addition, the TRMC Foundation supplied the college with an automatic external defibrillator for the Tifton campus as part of an ongoing effort to put the lifesaving devices in the hands of the public and provided device operation training to the campus faculty and staff at no charge.

TRMC has also allowed Moultrie Tech’s Allied Health faculty and students to conduct their clinical training on-site in Practical Nursing, Radiologic Technology and Surgical Technology fields.

“The experience gained in this state-of-the art facility and with such qualified healthcare professionals and role models follows MTC students into the workplace upon graduation,” states Anderson.

One of the most valuable resources TRMC provides is employment opportunities for MTC’s graduates. The hospital employs graduates from many of the program areas offered at the college, in addition to its Allied Health graduates. Students from Business and Computer, Technical and Industry, and Personal Service programs start their careers at TRMC as well.

The college also cites the donation of time and leadership from former MTC board of directors’ chairperson Ellen Eaton. Eaton is the director of human resources at TRMC and served on the MTC board for seven years until June 2007. She is also a certified board member through the Technical College Directors Association and now serves on the Board of Trustees for the MTC Foundation.

MTC Foundation director Darbie Avera adds, “Through financial contributions, volunteer hours and overall support of our mission, Tift Regional Medical Center is a friend of Moultrie Technical College in the strongest sense of the word. We could not serve our students and our communities without TRMC’s constant support. We are thrilled to name our allied health building after this great community partner.”
