MTC's Smith and Davis Take First
at State DEX Conference

Moultrie Technical College ’s Delta Epsilon Chi marketing management students won big awards at the 2007 Georgia DEX Career Development Conference held in February. MOULTRIE , GA. Ten Marketing Management Students from Moultrie Technical College participated in the Georgia Delta Epsilon Chi (DEX) Career Development Conference the weekend of February 16-18. This year's state conference was held at the Holiday Inn Select in Atlanta.

Denver Smith, from Hartsfield, and Marshall Davis, from Tifton, each earned first place honors in their respective competitive events. Denver Smith placed first in the Apparel and Accessories Business Simulation. Marshall Davis earned first in the Human Resources Management Decision Making Case Study event.

Second place winners from Moultrie Technical College include Amanda Miller in the Restaurant and Food Services Marketing event and Robbie Hancock in E-Commerce, along with Rebekah Folsom and Vickie Powell who placed second in the Business Ethics Case Study team event.

Third place winners from Moultrie Technical College are Voncile Gibbs in Apparel and Accessories Marketing Management; Stephanie Welch who competed in the Travel and Tourism Marketing Management event, and John Miller in the Retail Merchandising Business Simulation event. John Miller also placed third in the prestigious John Overman Student of the Year event.

Stephanie Welch was also recognized for the Georgia Delta Epsilon Chi Commemorative Pin design that she submitted. This design will be produced as the official state Commemorative Pin and traded with other states at this year’s International Career Development Conference.

Amanda Miller, from Moultrie, was also elected to serve as the state association’s Reporter/Historian. The political campaigns are a highlight of the state conference, and it is an honor to be elected to serve as a state officer.

Each student is now eligible to participate in the International Career Development Conference that will be held this April in Orlando, Florida.

Delta Epsilon Chi is the college division of the Distributive Education Clubs of America, DECA, and is the only student organization specifically designed to provide leadership and occupational training for students interested in careers in Marketing, Management and Entrepreneurship.
