MOULTRIE , GA. The Veterans Parkway Campus chapter of Moultrie Technical College’s Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) student organization traveled to Atlanta, Georgia, in April to participate in the PBL State Conference and Competition. Phi Beta Lambda is a student organization which promotes business and leadership skills.
Ten students competed in various competitions with six students placing in the top five in their respective events. The local college organization also received three chapter awards, including those for the largest increase in membership and largest percentage increase in membership of all chapters in Georgia for this year. The chapter also received the Floy McGarity Silver Seal of Merit.
Chapter adviser and accounting technology instructor Gerard Kwilecki said, “These chapter awards are a culmination of lots of hard work and dedication by our members. It is our goal for next year to be the PBL chapter of the year in Georgia.”
Students who placed in their respective competitions are: Vickie Powell, fifth place in Accounting Analysis & Decision Making; Theresa Lofton, fourth place in Accounting Principles; Tonda Kilgore, third place in Information Management and fourth place in Database Design & Applications; Julio Jimenez, fourth place in Economic Concepts and fifth place in Networking Concepts; Tracy Holden, second place in Hospitality Management and fourth place in Human Resource Management; and John Miller, first place in Marketing Concepts and second place in Marketing Analysis & Decision Making. Students who placed first or second at the state level will go to Chicago, Illinois, in June to compete in the PBL National Competition.
