A Dual Enrollment Student's perspective

picture of group of studentsOn the 8th of December, Mrs. White’s Environmental Horticulture students from Moultrie Technical College and Tiftarea Academy’s Biology students traveled to Callaway Gardens. The first place that we visited was the Sibley Horticulture Center. We walked through the greenhouses that had beautiful flowers. In this center, they also had a huge waterfall that made it amazing. As we walked on the bridge that lead outside, we found goldfish swimming beneath us. Many of us stopped to feed them. Along the way we took many pictures of statues that were made out of English Ivy.

Our next stop was the Birds of Prey. This was a very interesting show. They had many birds that appeared in this show: the Bald Eagle, the Red Tail Hawk, the Great Horned Owl, and the African White Back Vulture. They were very unique.

The last thing that we visited was the Day Butterfly Center.  Inside the center they had many insects and animals. The center displayed butterflies entered out of the cocoon. We saw many in the greenhouse that had a variety of color on them. Inside they also had birds. They had a very interesting parrot. Chaquita was a Yellow-Headed Amazon. She would sing to us and talk in Spanish and said many words.

This was a very interesting and exciting trip for the whole school. We also would like to thank the Grandparents Club of Tiftarea Academy for help sponsoring this trip. It was very educational and I hope in the near future this trip will continue on.
