MTC Marketing Management Instructor Earns International DEX Service Award

Moultrie Technical College’s Delta Epsilon Chi advisor, John Overman, was named the 2007 recipient of the Outstanding Service Award at the National Delta Epsilon Chi (DEX) Career Development Conference held in Orlando, Florida from April 21-25. Overman is a resident of Tifton and has taught at Moultrie Tech since 1988.
The Outstanding Service Award was established to recognize a marketing education professional who has made distinguished contributions to further the mission of DECA and DEX at the national level for more than five years. Overman was recognized for performing special meritorious service for Delta Epsilon Chi.
Jeff Collins, International Executive Director of Delta Epsilon Chi stated, “We appreciate Mr. Overman’s visionary faith in DECA and Delta Epsilon Chi, as well as his understanding of our goals and his untiring efforts on behalf of the students in this association.”
Overman has been a DECA/DEX advisor for over 33 years, is a member of the DECA Hall of Fame, and is currently serving Georgia Delta Epsilon Chi as the Finance Director and Associate State Advisor. He is an active member of the Union Grove Church of God and has been active in community affairs.
Delta Epsilon Chi is the only national student organization operating through the nation’s schools to attract young people to careers in marketing, merchandising, and management. Its purposes are to develop respect for education that will contribute to occupational competence, and to promote understanding and appreciation for the responsibilities of citizenship in our free, competitive enterprise system.
