MTC's Overman, Wilson and Ingle Gain International Recognition

DEX International Participants

Moultrie Technical College’s Delta Epsilon Chi marketing management students and their advisor won prestigious awards at the 2008 International DEX Career Development Conference held in Atlanta April 11-16. Winners pictured, left to right, are student Jeff Ingle, MTC DEX advisor and instructor John Overman, and student Teresa Wilson.

Moultrie Technical College Marketing Management students Teresa Wilson of Moultrie and Jeff Ingle of Pavo were recognized for leadership at the International Delta Epsilon Chi (DEX) Career Development Conference held April 11-16 in Atlanta. Wilson earned the State Leadership Award at the conference, and both Wilson and Ingle were recognized with the Chapter Leadership Awards.

Elected in February, Wilson and Ingle also serve as state DEX officers, with Wilson as president of the state association and Ingle as reporter/historian.

DEX chapter advisor and MTC Marketing Management instructor John Overman also attended the conference and had nothing but praise for the students who attended.

“These students did quite well representing our local chapter, and I am very proud of their performance,” said Overman. “The purpose of the competitive event and leadership development programs is to provide students the opportunity to gain recognition as they develop greater competence in their chosen career field.”

Overman was also recognized during the Grand Awards ceremony at the conference as the recipient of the Host State Advisor Award. This award was presented to recognize the hospitality and support provided by the Georgia Association for hosting the International Career Development Conference.

Moultrie Tech’s DEX chapter earned the prestigious Community Service Award at the conference. This award is presented in recognition for outstanding community service performed. The award is a way for DEX to show appreciation for the local chapter’s demonstration of civic responsibility and the chapter’s efforts to improve the local community.

Select members of DEX were also in Atlanta to participate in Delta Epsilon Chi’s 47th Annual Career Development Conference. The annual conference brought together over 1,500 career oriented Marketing Management college students from throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, Guam, and Canada to demonstrate competencies acquired during the school year in various occupational categories. Members were also involved in the international Delta Epsilon Chi political campaigns to elect the division’s five national officers.

To attend the international conference members must have achieved recognition by winning awards at the Georgia Delta Epsilon Chi Career Development Conference. Those who win at international level are not only acclaimed by instructors, advisors, employers, and their peers, but receive substantial reward for having reached the top of the DEX competitive event ladder.

Delta Epsilon Chi is the only international student organization operating through the nation’s colleges and universities to attract young people to careers in marketing, merchandising and management. Its purposes are to develop respect for education that will contribute to occupational competence, and to promote understanding and appreciation for the responsibilities of citizenship in our free, competitive enterprise system.
