MTC's Horton Named DEX Student
of the Year

 

DEX student of the year - Janice Horton

Moultrie Technical College DEX advisor and Marketing Management instructor John Overman presented Janice Horton with the 2008 Delta Epsilon Chi Student of the Year award at the College’s annual Student Awards program on June 9, 2008.

MOULTRIE, GA. Janice Horton, of Tifton, received the prestigious Delta Epsilon Chi (DEX) Student of the Year Award at the annual Moultrie Technical College Student Awards Banquet held June 9, 2008, in the Moultrie Technical College Veterans Parkway Campus Conference Center. The Student of the Year Award honors the DEX member who has made active contributions to the various club projects and activities throughout the year as a leader and maintained a high level of academic excellence as represented in the required course work.

Horton is a single mother with a full-time position at the Target Distribution Center in Tifton. She attended the Georgia Fall Leadership Conference last October and was the second place winner in the Restaurant & Food Services business simulation during the competitive event program at the Georgia DEX Career Development Conference in Atlanta last February. Horton has also served as a chapter secretary throughout the academic year. An honor student, she has been an active supporter of all of the chapter’s activities.

Jeff Ingle, a Marketing Management student from Pavo, received the DEX Leadership Award for his contributions as a chapter officer and demonstrating leadership excellence in his contributions to the various club projects throughout the year. Ingle participated in both the Georgia Leadership Development Conference and the Georgia DEX Career Development Conference in Atlanta where he was the third place winner in the Business-to-Business Marketing case study event. He also participated in the International DEX Career Development Conference in Atlanta and serves Georgia DEX as the state’s reporter/historian.

Pritesh Patel, a Marketing Management student from Tifton, received the Participation Award for his contributions to the Moultrie Tech DEX chapter and for his performance in the various chapter projects. Patel has been a positive supporter of all the chapter activities and earned honors in his academic performance by being named to the MTC President’s List every quarter since he has been at Moultrie Technical College.

Teresa Wilson, Emmanuel Simpson, Barbara Logan, Horton and Ingle each received a Leadership Appreciation certificate during the ceremony for having served as a chapter officer during the academic year.

Delta Epsilon Chi, the College Division of the Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA), is to serve its diverse international membership as a professional organization, providing leadership and career-oriented opportunities to develop and enhance tomorrow’s leaders.
