Moultrie Tech Graduates Second Class of Massage Therapists

NMT Graduates

Moultrie Technical College Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) program graduates, only the second graduating class since the program opened in July 2006, celebrated their achievements with instructor Amber Schwalls, pictured third from the right, at the College’s semi-annual commencement ceremony held Friday, June 13, at Withers Auditorium in Moultrie.  As one of only two NMT programs at technical colleges in the state of Georgia, the year-long program allows graduates to be eligible for state massage therapy certification once completed.  NMT, also known as deep tissue massage therapy, can be helpful for people suffering from headaches, for stroke rehabilitation, and for occupational and physical therapies. It can also help correct posture and ease pregnancy pains. The therapy is especially helpful for people with muscle pain that could otherwise keep someone from doing routine activities. Graduates are hired in positions at doctors’ offices, chiropractors’ offices, spas, salons and in self-employment.   NMT graduates pictured with Schwalls, from left, are Chandra Partain, Melanie Johnson, Holly Napier, Michaela Underwood and Amber Willis.
