Moultrie Tech SkillsUSA Donates Toys to Cheer Children
The Moultrie Technical College SkillsUSA student organization wrapped up its 2007 M. Shane Willis Toy Drive by donating over 400 toys to the Children’s Cheer and Toy Shop in Moultrie and the pediatric ward at Colquitt Regional Medical Center. According to MTC SkillsUSA advisor and construction trades instructor Jason Edwards, the drive is held annually in December in memory of a former MTC student. The toys were collected throughout the college and from monetary donations from students, staff and faculty on both Moultrie campuses. SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit organization serving teachers and high school and college students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations, including health occupations. It was formerly known as VICA (Vocational Industrial Clubs of America). Pictured, from left, are MTC SkillsUSA members Shannon Green, Simmie Hall and Christopher Zeigler.
