Moultrie Tech's Tifton Campus Medical Assisting Grads Pass National Certification Exam |
 |
TIFTON , GA ) Moultrie Technical College’s nationally-accredited medical assisting (MA) program and its instructors received excellent results from the certified medical assistant exam taken by the September 2007 graduating class from the college’s Tifton campus. According to instructors Robin Kern and Elizabeth Peace, this is the 3-part exam that MTC’s medical assisting students are eligible to take following graduation from the program. The test compromises general knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology, law, ethics and psychology; administrative knowledge such as front office skills for a medical facility; and clinical knowledge such as back office skills for a medical facility. Those who pass the test become certified through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), which is the national organization for the profession which is known as the fastest-growing profession in the 21 st century within the allied health job market. Training consists of both clinical and administrative skills, making MAs multi-skilled professionals in areas such as medication administration, venipuncture, medical office procedures and transcription . Newly-certified MAs from Moultrie Tech who passed the test in October are Lakeesha Monique Hall of Ashburn; Geneva Hester of Chula; April Latrelle Jowers, Lakesha D. Herrick and Lora Lynn Allen, all of Tifton; and Ivie LeAnne Thompson of TyTy.
