Moultrie Technical College’s Turner County Campus Adult Education program recently held an essay contest to promote September’s Literacy Awareness Month with writings submitted on “How Reading Makes Me Smarter”. Juliana Christian, a Medical Receptionist and Radiologic Technology student, was the first place winner. She received the book, “Finding Our Way”, by Michael Helms and a Zaxby’s gift certificate. Heather Lubelsky, an Adult Education student pursuing her GED, was the second place winner. She also received a copy of Rev. Helms book. Reverend Helms, of Moultrie’s Trinity Baptist Church, came to Ashburn recently to talk with students about writing. He also read some of his work and generously donated two books for this event.
