Moultrie Technical College celebrated the community partnership it shares with Worth County, the City of Sylvester and the Worth County School System with a ribbon cutting event in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce at the College’s Sylvester-Worth County Campus on North Monroe Street on September 30, 2008.
The College highlighted the dual enrollment program through Worth County High School, a program in which WCHS students receive both high school and technical college credit through Computer Information Systems, Cosmetology, Welding and Electronics Technology programs. The high school graduation rates of MTC’s dual enrollment students far exceeded that of the state average. Last year in Worth County, almost 95 percent of the dual enrollment students also graduated from high school. Adult students may also take courses at the campus in the evenings in Cosmetology, Business Office Technology and in general core classes such as Business English.
Among the College’s faculty, MTC administrators, MTC President Tina Anderson and staff members were several dignitaries including MTC board member and Worth County resident Bill Boone of the UGA Agriculture Innovation Center in Tifton, Georgia State Senator Joseph Carter, incoming Georgia State Senator John Crosby, Worth County School System Personnel Director Babs Thomas, Worth County High School Principal Stacey Bell and WCHS Career, Technical and Agricultural Education Director Scott Chafin.
