Moultrie Technical College Marketing Management students Clinton Proctor and Karina Ventura, both of Moultrie, were recognized for leadership at the International Delta Epsilon Chi (DEX) Career Development Conference held April 21-26 in Anaheim, California, by receiving Chapter Leadership Awards. The DEX Chapter Leadership Award recognizes students at the international level for outstanding leadership at the local chapter level.
Chapter advisor John Overman also attended the conference and praised the students who attended, saying, “These students did quite well representing our local chapter, and I am very proud of their performance.”
The purpose of the competitive event and leadership development programs is to provide students the opportunity to gain recognition as they develop greater competence in their chosen career field.
Overman was also recognized during the opening ceremony during the conference as the recipient of the Advisor of the Year award. The Advisor of the Year award was established to recognize a chapter advisor who has achieved a level of excellence worthy of international recognition by serving Delta Epsilon Chi with dedication and distinction throughout the year.
Moultrie Tech’s DEX chapter earned the prestigious Community Service Award at the international conference. This award is presented in recognition for outstanding community service performed. The award is a way for Delta Epsilon Chi to show appreciation for the local chapter’s demonstration of civic responsibility and the chapter’s efforts to improve the local community.
In addition to Proctor and Ventura, other Moultrie Technical College DEX members who attended the conference were Stephanie Bentley of Tifton, Charlee Collins of Camilla, and Jennifer Evans of Moultrie. To attend the international conference members must have achieved recognition by winning awards at the Georgia DEX Career Development Conference. Those who win at international level are not only acclaimed by instructors, advisors, employers, and their peers, but receive substantial reward for having reached the top of the Delta Epsilon Chi competitive event ladder.
The annual conference brought together over 1,300 career-oriented Marketing Management college students from throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, Guam and Canada to demonstrate competencies acquired during the school year in various occupational categories.
Delta Epsilon Chi is the only international student organization operating through the nation’s colleges and universities to attract young people to careers in marketing, merchandising and management. Its purposes are to develop respect for education that will contribute to occupational competence and to promote understanding and appreciation for the responsibilities of citizenship in our free, competitive enterprise system.
