Ventura Named Moultrie Tech's DEX Student of the Year
Karina Ventura, from Moultrie, received the prestigious Delta Epsilon Chi (DEX) Student of the Year Award at the Annual Moultrie Technical College (MTC) Student Awards Ceremony held June 1 in the MTC Conference Center on Veterans Parkway. The Student of the Year Award honors the DEX member who has made active contributions to the various club projects and activities throughout the year as a leader and maintained a high level of academic excellence as represented in the required course work.

Ventura is the local chapter President of Delta Epsilon Chi and is also a wife and mother. She attended the Georgia Fall Leadership Conference last November and was the second place winner in the Human Resource Management case study event during the competitive event program at the Georgia DEX Career Development Conference in Atlanta last February.
In April, Karina represented the local chapter at the International Career Development Conference held in Anaheim, California where she was recognized with the Chapter Leadership Award. An honor student, she has been an active supporter of all of the chapter’s activities.
Clinton Proctor, a Marketing Management student from Moultrie, received the DEX Leadership Award for his contributions as a chapter officer and for demonstrating leadership excellence in his assistance to the various club projects throughout the year. Proctor participated in both the Georgia Leadership Development Conference and the Georgia DEX Career Development Conference in Atlanta where he was the second place winner in the Restaurant and Food Services business simulation event. He also participated in the International Delta Epsilon Chi Career Development Conference in Atlanta where he earned the chapter leadership award.
Ezekiel Holton, also a Marketing Management student from Moultrie, received the Participation Award for his contributions to the MTC Delta Epsilon Chi chapter and for his performance in the various chapter projects. Holton has been a positive supporter of all the chapter activities and earned honors in his academic performance by being named to the President’s list two quarters since he has been at Moultrie Technical College.
Ventura, Proctor, Allison “Bo” DeMott, Charlee Collins, Meg Turner and Jennifer Evans each received a Leadership Appreciation Certificate during the ceremony for having served as a chapter officer during the academic year.
Upon his upcoming retirement, MTC DEX adviser and Marketing Management instructor John Overman was also recognized by the faculty, staff and students for his many years of service to the college.
Delta Epsilon Chi, the College Division of the Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA), is to serve its diverse international membership as a professional organization, providing leadership and career-oriented opportunities to develop and enhance tomorrow’s leaders.
