In creative partnership with Spark Digital Media Company in Macon, Moultrie Tech won second place for Best Television Advertising Single Ad for its “Get in the Know…Get in the NOW! MTC Challenge” fall quarter 2008 ad which encouraged viewers to enter an online contest by visiting the college’s redesigned website beginning with its launch in August.
Featuring MTC surgical technology graduate Theresa Bryant of Tifton and actor Sonny Gay of Moultrie, the ad was “created to show viewers that technical education is just that…technical. We use state-of-the-art equipment in all of our programs and wanted to give the community a chance to test their knowledge of the high technology we use at MTC,” said Jana Wiggins, MTC’s director of marketing and public relations.
“We received hundreds of entries in the online quiz contest and increased traffic on our new website exponentially. The campaign has been very well received in Southwest Georgia, and the stars of our ads are being recognized on the street, which is a great sign that our marketing efforts are working,” added Wiggins.
Whitney Hathcock of Moultrie answered the fall quarter quiz correctly, and her name was drawn from all the correct entries. She won a high tech gadget of her own, a TomTom GPS Navigator for her vehicle. The “MTC Challenge” added new gadgets and prizes for winter and spring quarters and will conclude in July with the summer quarter contest.
MTC also won a bronze honor in the New Media category for its E-mail blast teasers used to create interest and curiosity about the launch of new college website. New media includes podcasts, pop-up advertising, blog sites, E-mail blasts and flash media. Essentially, it is any web-based media used in addition to actual websites.
Moultrie Tech was joined by several sister colleges from Georgia’s Technical College System in the national award wins. Albany Tech, Chattahoochee Tech in Marietta, Gwinnett Tech in Lawrenceville, and Savannah Tech also helped put the state of Georgia in the college marketing spotlight.
The annual Admissions Advertising Awards is the oldest and largest educational advertising awards competition in the country. A national panel of judges consisted of admissions marketers, advertising creative directors, marketing and advertising professionals and the editorial board of Admissions Marketing Report.
This year over 2,000 entries were received from more than 1,000 colleges, universities and secondary schools. Entries were received from institutions in all fifty states and several foreign countries.
Admissions Marketing Report, recently renamed Higher Education Marketing Report, is a national marketing publication for higher education professionals. Now in its twenty-seventh year, the Atlanta-based publication is read each month by nearly four thousand higher education marketers.
