Moultrie Tech to Waive Application Fee
for Cooper Tire Employees

Officials at Moultrie Technical College and several other technical colleges in the South Georgia region have agreed to waive the application fee for soon-to-be displaced Cooper Tire Company employees who want to brush up on their skills or take their careers in a new direction.
“Even though waiving the $15.00 application fee is a small gesture, it is just the beginning of what we want to offer,” said MTC President Tina Anderson.
“Because we all share in what’s happening with the economy, anything we can do to help the Cooper Tire employees, we are willing to do.”
Cooper Tire employees interested in enrolling for winter quarter 2009 at one of Moultrie Tech’s campuses in Moultrie, Tifton, Ashburn, and Sylvester or for online studies should contact the admissions offices in Moultrie at (229) 891-7000, in Tifton at (229) 391-2600 or in Ashburn at (229) 567-2045.
Moultrie Tech’s winter quarter classes convene on Friday, January 9.   Late registration for winter quarter will be held from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7.
Students must be at least 16 years old, have a high school diploma or GED, and meet the minimum COMPASS or ASSET exam score requirements.
Most program applicants will qualify for Georgia’s HOPE Grant and additional financial assistance to help with college tuition, books and other fees.

According to Anderson, Cooper Tire employees can take advantage of the same services that MTC students are currently offered through career guidance, educational counseling, library and computer resources, and tutoring options.

For additional allied health, business and computers, technical and industrial, and personal and public service program information, Cooper Tire employees may visit the college website at www.moultrietech.edu.
