Moultrie Tech’s Auto Collision and
Repair Program Goes Green

Moultrie Technical College’s Automotive Collision Repair program students Tommy Ogletree, left, and Terrance Hadley, right, are the first students to experiment with mixing paint in the College’s new Dupont Cromax Pro waterborne paint system. Moultrie Tech is the first technical college in the state to “go green” with the environmentally-friendly waterborne paint. Carquest Auto Parts gave the system to Moultrie Tech on consignment and provided training for MTC Auto Collision Repair instructor William Segers to learn how to operate the system. Segers says less than 50 percent of the paint in MTC’s Auto Collision Repair program will be solvent-based from now on, reducing the toxic volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emitted into the atmosphere when cars are repaired and repainted by students.
