Local Career Fair Offers Solutions for Job Seekers - Moultrie Tech Community Career Fair
With US Bureau of Labor and Statistics reporting a staggering 8.5 percent unemployment rate nationally in March, employers and job seekers both are finding more creative ways to connect with employment needs. Local community partners in Colquitt County believe they can help.
Approximately 50 businesses and industries will gather on Thursday, April 30, 2009, at Moultrie Technical College’s Conference Center on the Veterans Parkway campus in Moultrie. Moultrie Tech, the Georgia Department of Labor and the Colquitt County Employer Committee will join forces to present the 2009 Community Career Fair. The event will take place from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
The event is open to the public as well as all Moultrie Tech students and graduates. The purpose of this event is to familiarize the businesses and industries in our region and job seekers with one another.
Whether or not employers have jobs to offer at this time, job seekers will be interested in learning about local companies and what skills they would expect their employees to possess. In turn, businesses may find matches for future employment. Industries expected to be at the fair include health care, industrial manufacturing, sales and banking, among others.
Additionally, job seekers are encouraged to bring updated resumes and all information necessary to complete job applications on site. Furthermore, to create a positive first impression with employers, participants should come dressed in business attire.
Among the employers expected to participate in the fair are Riverside Manufacturing, Avon, Turning Point Hospital, Southwest Georgia Bank, Vocational Rehabilitation, WellCare of Georgia, Quality Employment Service, WalMart, MillerCoors, Crete Carrier Corp, Equity Group Georgia Division, Moultrie Technical College Human Resources, Studio Viohl, Reeves Construction Company, Harvey’s Supermarket, Moultrie YMCA, Easter Seals Southern Georgia, ResCare HomeCare, US Navy, Green Oaks Center, Colquitt Regional Medical Center, Tift Regional Medical Center and Georgia Work Ready, SWGA Workforce Investment, Labor Finders, Southeastern Community Blood Center, Southwest Georgia Area Health Education, Southwest Georgia Community Action Council, Sierra Pine Limited, Experience Works, Tift County Health Department, Right From The Start/Medicaid, National Beef, The Home Depot, Georgia Department of Corrections/Autry State Prison, City of Moultrie/Moultrie Police Department, US Army, Lowndes County 911, Primerica Financial Services, Oil Dri Corporation of Georgia, South Georgia Banking Company, Target Distribution Center, Tallahassee Police Department, City of Albany, Colquitt County Health Department, Heritage Healthcare at Sunrise, and Ameris Bank.
