Moultrie Tech’s Estes and Hudson Featured in Tifton Gazette’s Young & Upcoming 2009
MTC’s RAMP Program Administrator Chris Estes and Vice President of Student Affairs Scott Hudson joined 28 other emerging leaders in The Tifton Gazette’s “Young & Upcoming” feature in the newspaper’s July 26th edition. All nominees ranged in age from 16 to under 40 and are making a difference in the life of the Tifton community.

Chris Estes is the administrator for Moultrie Technical College’s new RAMP (Remote Automation Management Project) program housed on the MTC Tifton Campus. RAMP, a pilot program that is the first of its kind in the Southeastern Region of the United States, will introduce high school students to the ever-changing world of industrial automation. In addition to the training of secondary students, under Estes’ leadership, the RAMP program will enable MTC to provide cutting edge industrial automation training and support for new and emerging technology to businesses and industries from a remote location.
Estes has a wealth of experience in the industrial maintenance technology field, including a diploma from Ben Hill Irwin Technical Institute in 1995 which lead to positions at Cooper Tire and Rubber Co. and Alcoa Tifton Aluminum. He began teaching industrial systems technology classes part-time at East Central Technical College in Fitzgerald and moved on to Moultrie Tech’s Tifton program full-time in 2000 before becoming the RAMP administrator in 2009.
His area of expertise lies in providing instruction to students in the areas of industrial electrical, industrial mechanical, fluid power, process control and process automation; in providing advanced instruction for new technologies to industry technicians; and in developing curriculum and customized training programs for specific technologies.
Estes also owns his own business, Estes Electric, in which he installs electrical systems for residential, commercial and industrial structures, performs troubleshooting and repair services to local industries and conducts repairs to existing residential and commercial electrical systems.
A graduate of Tift County High School, Estes is originally from Tifton but has lived in Ocilla for the past 19 years with wife Suzanne. His son Aaron, 17, is a senior at Tiftarea Academy, and daughter Ayda, 4, is a homeschooler.

Tifton’s Scott Hudson serves as Vice President of Student Affairs at Moultrie Technical College. He has been responsible for leading and maintaining all services for students at the college since 2006. Hudson joined the Moultrie Technical College administration after serving at East Central Technical College as the Director of Economic Development for two years.
Hudson has been credited for being an excellent recruiter and motivator and has seen enrollment increase exponentially at MTC since he moved into his position. He manages a staff of 28 professionals overseeing Admissions, Financial Aid, Career Services, the Registrar, Marketing/Public Relations, and Student Activities in Colquitt, Tift, Turner and Worth counties.
Hudson is an active member of his community. Whether volunteering to lead a Relay for Life team, or coaching his Little League baseball team, he is constantly giving to his community. Hudson is an active member of the Tifton-Tift County and Moultrie-Colquitt Chambers of Commerce and was one of ten leaders from Colquitt County selected to participate in Leadership Colquitt in 2007. He works actively with the Habitat for Humanity and Make a Wish Foundation as well as the United Way Day of Caring. Hudson is also a member of the Tifton Rotary Club and serves as a member of the Communities in Schools Board of Directors. He was a member of the 2008 Leadership Georgia program class as well.
A 1996 graduate of Irwin County High School, Hudson attended Florida State University where he played baseball for the Seminoles. While on the FSU baseball team, he was a two-time participant in the College World Series. Hudson transferred to the University of Georgia where he received his BBA in 2000. While working full time for Athens Technical College as a job developer, Scott pursued and received his MBA from UGA in 2003. He holds lifetime memberships in the Phi Kappa Phi and Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Societies.
He and his wife, Julia, and son Nate, 1, are members of the First United Methodist Church in Tifton.
