MTC Career Fair Sees Record Number
in Light of Economy

Moultrie Technical College (MTC), the Georgia Department of Labor’s Moultrie Career Center and the Colquitt County Employer Committee did their part in trying to ease the anxiety of area job seekers in a troubled economy at the annual Community Career and Resource Fair held Thursday, April 29, at MTC’s Veterans Parkway campus conference center.  More than 400 students and job hunters brought resumes and practiced their interview and networking skills in hopes of finding gainful employment.  With employers from almost 50 businesses and industries exhibiting, MTC Director of Career Services Wendi Tostenson said of the fair, “It was a fabulous way for prospective employees to identify the skill sets needed to obtain employment in today’s job market.  Several employers were taking applications and excited with the quality of applicants at the event.”  Pictured left is MTC Computer Information Systems student and Student Leadership Council representative Harrell Gant of Moultrie who was recently laid off from Cooper Tire Company after 15 years.  Gant discussed possible information technology position openings with Jennifer Manning, center, and Mike Folsom, right, of Riverside Manufacturing Company.
