Moultrie Technical College’s Tifton Campus Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) Chapter recently held a donation drive for United States military units overseas. Adopt-a-Military-Unit was designed to provide support to troops. The program gives soldiers the comfort of home by providing supplies that they may not have access to. Melissa Driskell, formerly a military spouse, helped to locate a unit for the Tifton PBL chapter to adopt. The unit adopted is the ACO, 148th BSB based out of Fort Stewart, Georgia, and is currently serving at Camp Phoenix, Afghanistan. PBL members set up donation boxes throughout the campus and collected much needed items including baby wipes, toothpaste, toothbrushes, hand sanitizers, snacks, deodorants, shaving creams, shampoos and soap. According to Susan Davis, MTC Tifton PBL adviser, “The 148th BSB is indispensible and supports the 48th Brigade in Afghanistan. This unit supplies food, medical supplies, fuel, repair parts and whole vehicles as needed. It was with pleasure that we collected these items to provide the comforts of home for these troops. The generosity of the students at Moultrie Technical College was overwhelming.” MTC Tifton PBL members, pictured from left, are Melissa Driskell, Roberta Hill, Lakesha Lundy, Marie King, Josefina Medrano, Donnie Scott, Emily Smith and Candi Newsome.
