EMPLOYEES: Of the close to 300 full-time and part-time employees of Moultrie Technical College, ten of those are employed full time at the Turner County Campus.
HOW LONG IN BUSINESS: Moultrie Technical College, as a unit of the Technical College System of Georgia, opened its doors in Moultrie, Georgia, 46 years ago in 1964 and has grown to cover not only Colquitt County but also Tift, Turner and Worth counties. Each county now has its own MTC campus. Moultrie Tech acquired the Turner County Campus facility from East Central Technical College nine years ago in July 2001.
WHY IN BUSINESS: Led by Dean of Academic Affairs Brandi Giddens, Moultrie Tech’s Turner County Campus exists to serve our students and the business and industry communities by training the workforce of Ashburn and the surrounding area through cutting edge technology and knowledgeable faculty members who have real world experience in the fields they teach.
Of the college’s over 2500-member student body, there are approximately 150 to 250 students on the Turner County Campus with enrollment numbers varying from quarter to quarter.
The following programs are available on the MTC Turner County Campus: Industrial Electrical Construction taught by Jerry Gunn; Cosmetology taught by Donna Waters; Business Administrative Technology taught by Melissa Daniels; Early Childhood Care & Education and English taught by Amanda McCard; Patient Care Assisting taught by Aynn Jenkins; English taught by Corinne Reeves, Psychology taught by Shelia Roberts; and Mathematics taught by Tamara Gray.
The college also offers Adult Education classes and GED testing led by Melissa Burtle. In addition, the college’s Continuing Education and Economic Development division provides customized business and industry training in the form of non-credit classes.
The college offers career service assistance before and after graduation. After a student graduates from the program they studied, qualified Career Services staff members are able to help them find a job in his or her field.

Dual Enrollment programs for high school students will be offered at Turner County High School this school year through Moultrie Tech. Students 16 or older may participate in dual enrollment classes in which they receive both high school and technical college credit simultaneously and at no charge for tuition or book/supplies through Georgia’s HOPE grant. The programs being offered include Automotive Technology, Mobile Electronics Technician (Car Audio), Patient Care Assisting, Early Childhood Care & Education, Microsoft Application Specialist, Video Broadcast Production, and Cosmetology. Students interested in taking dual enrollment courses this school year should contact the high school.
