Moultrie Tech Waiving Application Fee for Displaced Shaw Employees

Officials at Moultrie Technical College have agreed to waive the application fee for soon-to-be displaced Shaw Industries employees in Tifton who want to brush up on their skills or take their careers in a new direction.

“Waiving the $20.00 application fee is just a small gesture we can extend to Shaw’s hard-working employees.  But it is only the beginning of what we hope to offer them in terms of education and getting back out in the workforce with new and updated skills,” said MTC Vice President of Student Affairs Scott Hudson.

Shaw Industries employees interested in enrolling for summer quarter 2010 at one of Moultrie Tech’s campuses in Moultrie, Tifton, Ashburn, and Sylvester or for online studies should contact the admissions offices in Moultrie at (229) 891-7000, in Tifton at (229) 391-2600 or in Ashburn at (229) 567-2045.

Moultrie Tech’s summer quarter classes convene on Thursday, July 8.   New student registration for summer quarter will be held from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 1.

Students must be at least 16 years old, have a high school or GED diploma, and meet the minimum COMPASS or ASSET exam score requirements for the program they wish to enter.

Most program applicants will qualify for Georgia’s HOPE grant or HOPE scholarship and additional financial assistance to help with college tuition, books and other fees.

According to Hudson, Shaw employees can take advantage of the same services that MTC students are currently offered through career guidance, educational counseling, library and computer resources, and tutoring options.
For additional allied health, business and computers, technical and industrial, and personal and public service program information, Shaw Industries employees may visit the college website at www.moultrietech.edu.
