Moultrie Technical College students search unfilled book shelves in the school’s library. Moultrie Tech’s Turner County Campus has named February 14 – March 14 as “Love Your Library Month” and will hold a Book Drive during those four weeks. |
With a new library on the Turner County Campus in Ashburn, Moultrie Technical College is now in need of books to fill it.
The library serves a student body of almost 300 and a faculty and staff of ten people.
According to Brandi Giddens, MTC Turner County dean of academic affairs, it is of vital importance that the college provides the necessary materials to promote leisurely reading among its students and staff.
The library’s resources are also available to any adult resident in the College’s four-county service area of Colquitt, Tift, Turner and Worth.
To that end, Moultrie Tech’s Turner County Campus has announced February 14 through March 14 as “Love Your Library Month” and will hold a Book Drive for those four weeks.
The College will collect new and “gently-used” non-textbooks at any one of several drop-off sites. Sites planned include the front desk reception areas of the MTC Turner County campus and the lobby of South Georgia Bank’s Main Branch on Washington Avenue in Ashburn.
Donors should look for other locations throughout the area or call the MTC Turner County Campus at 567-2045 for other drop-off options once they are determined. Giddens added that people who wish to donate a large number of books and want to arrange for pick-up can also call the MTC Turner County Campus.
Moultrie Tech Foundation Director Darbie Avera also noted that any book donor who wishes to have documentation for tax purposes may complete a simple form to receive an acknowledgement. Forms may be obtained by contacting Avera at (229) 217-4145.
