Saturday’s MTC Classic Road Race Still Taking Entries
The Moultrie Technical College Foundation is calling all runners and walkers to hit the pavement again for a good cause this Saturday, May 1. The MTC Classic Road Race – Education at a Fast Pace - will begin and end at MTC’s Veterans Parkway Campus in Moultrie.
Last year’s first-ever MTC Classic saw over 90 runners and walkers from South Georgia and North Florida. The race is an official Run & See Georgia Grand Prix Series points event, and MTC organizers say more racers have already pre-registered this year than did in 2009.
The goal of the event is to raise money for student scholarships and much-needed instructional equipment for the College in Colquitt, Tift, Turner and Worth Counties.
Events will include 5K and 10K races for runners and a 1-mile Fun Run and Walk. Prizes will be given in the following categories for the 10K and 5K races: overall male and female winners and the top three males and females in the 10 & under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70 & over age groups.
Prizes will be given in the following categories for the 1-Mile Fun Run and Walk: overall male and female winners and the top three males and females in the 8 & under, 9-13, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and over age groups.
On-site registration begins at 7:00 a.m. at Moultrie Technical College with the 5K and 10K races starting at 7:30 a.m. The 1-Mile Fun Run and Walk will begin at 9:00 a.m. The race awards ceremony will begin at approximately 10:00 a.m. at MTC.
