Moultrie Technical College’s Adult Education and GED test preparation program in Turner County focused its efforts in October toward stopping domestic violence, as a part of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Sonia Harper, executive director of Ruth’s Cottage and The Patticake House in Tifton, came to speak to MTC’s Adult Education students and explained that Ruth's Cottage is a domestic violence, child advocacy, and sexual assault response program serving Ben Hill, Irwin, Tift, Turner and Worth counties. The Patticake House is a Children’s Advocacy Center purposed with helping children who have suffered sexual or physical abuse. MTC students and instructors collected supplies such as toiletry items, children’s books, and canned drink tabs to donate to the two centers.
