Moultrie Technical College’s (MTC) Tifton Campus and the Georgia Department of Labor’s Tifton Career Center made strides in introducing local job hunters with more than 50 businesses and industries exhibiting at the 2011 Community Career Resource Fair held Thursday, October 13, at MTC’s Tifton Campus conference center. Close to 300 community members and MTC students brought resumes and practiced their interview and networking skills with the goal of finding employment, despite a lagging economy and recent industry layoffs. MTC Career Services Coordinator Bridgett Adams said of the fair, “We had a wonderful employer turnout with several new local businesses, such as Stevi B's and Liberty Tax Services, and many participating companies and organizations had immediate job openings. It was a great networking opportunity for all. For many of the students and job seekers, it was important for them to see that there are available jobs out there.” Representatives from Stevi B’s Pizza Buffet say the restaurant is scheduled to open in December or January on Virginia Avenue in Tifton.
