MTC Tifton to Host Virtual Statewide Town Hall Meeting
The Governor’s Office of Workforce Development is convening a statewide, virtual town hall panel discussion on Thursday, October 20, at 6:30 p.m. at Moultrie Technical College’s (MTC) Tifton Campus at 52 Tech Drive. The live panel will cover the topics of the Georgia’s workforce development needs, unemployment, soft skills and Georgia’s growing workforce needs in industries such as infrastructure, bioscience and logistics.
In an effort to maximize participation from the broadest possible audience across Colquitt, Tift, Turner and Worth counties, MTC’s Tifton Campus Economic Development building, Multi-purpose Room 141, will be the site of the local virtual broadcast. Gwinnett Technical College in Lawrenceville is hosting the live town hall meeting on behalf of the State.
The panel will be comprised of State School Superintendent John Barge, Commissioner of Labor Mark Butler, State Representative Randy Nix (R-69), Gwinnett Technical College President Sharon Bartels, Wendell Dallas of AGL Resources, Debra Howell of Georgia Power Company, and a representative from the Georgia Department of Economic Development.
The Governor’s Office of Workforce Development is encouraging statewide discussion, with participation open to the public at Gwinnett Technical College and a host of satellite venues across the state live-streaming the panel discussion. Viewers can also participate in the discussion and send in questions via Twitter using the hashtag #gaGOWD.
