Moultrie Tech Foundation Seeks Runners for Second Annual Race
The Moultrie Technical College Foundation is calling all runners and walkers to hit the pavement again for a good cause the first Saturday in May.
With the goal of raising money for student scholarships and much-needed instructional equipment for the College in Colquitt, Tift, Turner and Worth Counties, the MTC Foundation continues its MTC Classic Road Race – Education at a Fast Pace – for the second year. Planned for Saturday, May 1, the race will begin and end at Moultrie Tech’s Veterans Parkway Campus in Moultrie.
Last year’s first-ever MTC Classic saw over 90 runners and walkers from South Georgia and North Florida. The race is an official Run & See Georgia Grand Prix Series points event, so MTC organizers say they hope for even more participants from all over the state and beyond this year.
Events will include 5K and 10K races for runners and a 1-mile Fun Run and Walk. Prizes will be given in the following categories for the 10K and 5K races: overall male and female winners and the top three males and females in the 10 & under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70 & over age groups.
Prizes will be given in the following categories for the 1-Mile Fun Run and Walk: overall male and female winners and the top three males and females in the 8 & under, 9-13, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and over age groups.
On-site registration begins at 7:00 a.m. at Moultrie Technical College with the 5K and 10K races starting at 7:30 a.m. The 1-Mile Fun Run and Walk will begin at 9:00 a.m. The race awards ceremony will begin at approximately 10:00 a.m. at MTC.
